To fully appreciate all of the lakes in the area I thought it was time to get a little boat that would get me off the docks and shoreline and on to the lakes and rivers. I did a bit of research and found a company called Sea Eagle. I was looking for a boat that could hold 4 people so that I could take my family fishing. I also wanted a boat that would be capable of floating a couple of the local rivers just in case I should I decide to give that a whirl.
We don’t have a lot of space at our home for parking a boat, so I needed a boat that I could fit in my shed when it wasn’t being used. I remember a few years back a good friend and avid boater & fisherman suggested I consider looking at an inflatable fishing boat. Well after hours scouring the Internet I’ve decided Sea Eagle looks to have the fishing setup I was looking for.
The fact that the give you a 180 day free trial and a solid 3 year warranty makes me believe they feel strongly about their boats and their reputation. I watched several of the customer submitted videos and testimonials and looked for as many reviews as I could find and most people seem to really enjoy their Sea Eagle.
I will post a proper review once I receive my boat and get it out on the water. I’ve ordered the Sea Eagle 124SMB Motor Package that comes with the Minnkota Endura 30 electric motor. Having floorboards for an inflatable boat was an important feature. Because my kids are small I like the optional chair you can purchase for the front of the boat as it seats two people and sits down lower than a bench seat or fishing chair. Updated at 6 months of ownership:
Well its been 6 months since I’ve owned my Sea Eagle 124 SMB. I’ve been having a great time fishing on all of the lakes in the area. I am very happy with my purchase. I have since also purchased the MB-50 Electric Pump . With the electric pump I can have my boat fully inflated and set up in about 20 minutes. I first purchased an electric pump from a local store but it didn’t have the correct attachment to fit my boat so I purchased the one that is recommended by Sea Eagle.
I also purchased the wide EZ cart. At some of the boat launch areas I have to inflate the boat a short distance from the water. The Sea Eagle 124SMB gets pretty heavy once you add all your gear, motor and battery and so its really nice to be able to just wheel the boat down to the water.
One of my favorite additions has been the MinnKota Trolling Motor Power Center (Read My Review). This is a great little battery box and it just makes charging and hooking up the battery a breeze. Not to mention I can plug my MB-50 electric pump into it so if my car isn’t close by its nice to have other options for powering up. The MinKota power center also has a gauge that shows me how much of a charge the battery has left.
The boat deflates quickly and I can roll it up and keep it in my shed when not in use. It also fits nicely into the back of my Ford F-150
I’m glad I didn’t purchase the deluxe speed boat seat because I’ve found that we like to face each other while fishing so we can talk.
Also with the wood floor boards we usually just bring a couple of folding chairs and they make for very comfortable seating.
This boat is the perfect size for two adults and two kids to fish very comfortably. I’d highly recommend my Sea Eagle 124SMB to anyone who is interested in having a compact, easy to setup, safe fishing boat for their family.

Updated 9 months after ownership:
I purchased my boat primarily to get out and fish all the lakes in the area. The Salmon have been running so I’ve been venturing out to the beach and the fishing has been great, especially early in the morning when the tide starts to transition from low to high tide. I was curious if my Sea Eagle boat could handle the Puget Sound so I borrowed my friends 5hp Honda Outboard motor to see how it would do. The 5hp Honda motor is much faster than my little Minkota Endura 30 but it is also pretty heavy. One of the reasons I purchased my inflatable was because I don’t have a lot of storage space. While the Sea Eagle would probably be fine for fishing just off the beach in the Puget Sound I’ve decided not to purchase a gas motor. It would be hard for me to fit my boat and a gas motor in the back of my Subaru. If you are curious about how fast a Sea Eagle 124 SMB will go with a 5 hp motor watch the video below.
