This post is probably a little self-serving as I’m hoping my wife and kids might read it to get some ideas on what I’d like for Christmas this year. If you have a guy in your life who enjoys fishing chances are he would probably enjoy these gifts too. Even if he already has some of this stuff its nice to get it updated every once in a while. All of the items listed below can be found at Amazon. They always have great prices and heck we may as well make this as easy as possible for you. I think they will even gift wrap it. Click, Ship, Wrapped and your done. Here is a link to my Amazon Store that has all of these items in one easy place. Merry Christmas Pops. 🙂
SNIP basic fishing line cutter:
It seems like you can never find your line cutters when you need them. I love the ones like this that clip to your shirt so you always have it close by. I have owned many of these. They get warn out so its good to get new ones. For $5 dollars this gift won’t leave you hanging.
Fish Billy Club:
So much better to have a fish billy club then try to hold those slippery little suckers by the tail and hit their head on something hard. For $7 dollars you can’t beat this one. “beat” get it. 🙂
DELK Ultimate Fishing Tool:
This would be a great tool to have. You can measure the fish, weigh the fish and have everything you need in one handy dandy little tool. It even has a bottle opener which of course is a absolute necessity. How can you go wrong for $17 bucks.
Plano 7771 Guide Series Tackle System:
I love being organized. This tackle box is awesome. Enough compartments to organize hooks, weights, and miscellaneous gear plus it has the clear lid for the things you want fast access to like you clippers and fishing license and the upper portion of the lid can hold the larger flashers. It will set you back $60 bucks but its less than the cost of the counseling required after a day of untangling your stuff.
Humminbird 120 Fishin’ Buddy:
This looks like it would be a great little fish finder for the inflatable fishing boat crowd. Easy to mount and perfect for lakes. Looks like a great fish finder for just $168. Sign me up. 🙂
Garmin GPS Map 541:
Garmin is the king of GPS. This fish finder is on my wish list. This is going to have more depth so for the people fishing in the ocean it would be more appropriate. They think pretty highly of their gear $320
Ugly Stick 2 Piece Light Weight:
Who doesn’t love an Ugly Stik. This is a great 2 piece rod for this great for trout and bass fishing. I’d recommend the 2 piece 5ft 6in option. Only $29 dollars last time I looked. Makes the smallest fish feel like you are fighting a monster. 🙂
Pflueger President Spinning Reel:
I just love these Pflueger President Spinning Reels. I own one already but I’d like to have another. It’s nice to be able to have a couple of fishing poles ready to go when you leave the house so when something goes bad you have another one handy. If you were going to buy me one of these I’d want a lighter weight model for catching trout and bass. The 4 lb 110 yard model is the one I would want. These babies will set you back about $60 bucks but its not an expense, really more of an investment. 🙂
Wedding Ring Fishing Lure:
I’ve caught more trout on the wedding ring with a piece of power bait than anything else. Finally a wedding ring most guys don’t mind buying. It’s even priced right at just $6.92. Remember now your supposed to spend 3 months salary on a wedding ring. So be sure to stock up.
Power Bait Trout Nuggets:
If you are going to buy the wedding ring you better get the power bait. There is a lot of different type of power bait out there but this is the link to the best stuff. The ones that look like little marshmallows are what the fish like. I know its weird but if you place them between two graham crackers they just go nuts. For less than $9 bucks you will attract the fish like crazy.
Frabil Folding Telesoping Fishing Net:
When you have a small boat it means we have to keep our gear small. Otherwise there is no room in the boat for the dog. This is a great little net that can fold up fit in your gear bag. We all have the story about the fish that got away. It’s usually after that experience that we buy the net. For $25 bucks you this is worth not having to hear the story over and over and over again about the one that got away. And trust me the size of the fish that gets away will get bigger every year and the story will get longer and longer. Just buy the darn net and save yourself the headache.
Sea Eagle 124SMB:
Now this post about great gifts for fishermen wouldn’t be complete without a shout out for my all time favorite inflatable fishing boat. Yes the one I personally own and the boat that inspired this entire website about inflatable fishing boats. The 124SMB. Not only will your fishermen enjoy countless hours on the lakes but this boat is big enough to bring the kids with him. Imagine you could have the house to yourself for hours at a time. All it takes is a little upfront investment and you are in business. This really is a win win. Your guy gets to fish and you get him out of the house with the kids in tote. (Sometimes) Now I know you don’t really want your husband and kids out of the house because you love them so dearly but then again. Just imagine how much you could get done. Well I’ve done my best guys to grease the skids. The fact is this is going to set you back about $950 dollars. Unless of course they having a sale. Check out the prices here. If she really loves you. I mean REALLY REALLY LOVES YOU. She will understand that sometimes you just have to set the budget aside and buy the stinking boat. After all, when its all said and done nobody cares about how much money you have but how much life did you live. The memories you will create, the time you will spend with people important to you is worth more than a few dollars in the bank. OK. I’ll get off the guilt trip. JUST BUY HIM THE STINKING BOAT. 🙂
I’ve really had a lot of fun writing this post. I hope it gives you some ideas on some fishing gift ideas for that guy you are really trying to impress. Whether it’s your husband, boyfriend, Dad or Grandfather I’m sure he will really enjoy any or all of these items.
Oh and don’t forget on the card you give him. A good fishing joke is worth a million bucks for us guys. You know we don’t always have a lot to say. But a good joke is always appropriate. So here is one for the birthday or Christmas or anniversary card.
Q- How do you communicate with a fish?
A- Drop it a line. OF COURSE.
Over and Out,
